Job searching is HARD. This is a safe space to vent. No positivity required. What's been the most frustrating thing that's happened to you recently in your search?
Applied for a role advertised as 'flexible working available'. Got to final round. Asked about flexible hours. Was told 'we meant flexible about working late, not about leaving early'. WHAT.
Completed a 3-stage interview process including a presentation. Got told the role was 'paused'. Three weeks later saw it reposted on Indeed. No explanation, no reply to my follow-up email. Absolutely maddening.
Being asked in an interview if I 'had plans to have more children'. Not legal, completely inappropriate, but there it was. I smiled and answered professionally and then cried in the car.
"We're looking for someone who can grow with us" = they want full-time commitment and aren't flexible at all but don't want to say it. I've learned to spot the code words now.
All of these are awful and also I feel SO seen. The gap between how companies present themselves and the reality is genuinely exhausting.
