Best way to prepare for a competency-based interview?

I have an interview coming up for a part-time project coordinator role and they've told me it will be competency-based. I haven't done one of these in years! Any tips?

Use the STAR method: Situation, Task, Action, Result. Prepare 6–8 strong examples from your career (or even from managing home life — organising events, managing budgets, leading volunteers) and practise saying them out loud. Most competency questions can be answered with the same pool of examples.

Research the job description carefully and map your examples to the competencies they list. If they say 'stakeholder management', have a story ready. If they say 'working under pressure', have a different one. Tailor your examples to their language.

Good luck! Just remember — they already liked your CV enough to invite you. They're rooting for you to do well.
